People snorting cocaine at a party

Understanding the Dangers of the ‘Calvin Klein’ Drug Combination

The world of club drugs is a bizarre and ever-changing one. It seems that every other week a new substance or cocktail of substances has been discovered and abused by young partygoers across the country. These drugs may also have unsuspecting names, shrouding them in mystery and the allure of the taboo. Today, Seaside Palm Beach is pulling back the curtain on the Calvin Klein drug, what it is, and the danger it poses to users.

What Is the Calvin Klein Drug?

While most people may think of jeans or Marty McFly from Back to the Future when they hear Calvin Klein, this is the nickname for a polydrug that consists of cocaine and ketamine. The term “polydrug use” describes the use of several drugs concurrently or quickly. Drug interactions can intensify the effects of each substance and produce new, unforeseen consequences on the body and psyche.

If you haven’t heard of Calvin Klein, it’s also called CK1 or Cable. It got its name because just as cocaine and ketamine together have the initials CK, which are the same as the famous fashion designer, Calvin Klein.1

Cocaine is an extremely potent stimulant that can raise body temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate, which can cause heart attacks, seizures, and other severe health issues. Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic that can impair motor coordination and produce cognitive impairment in addition to hallucinations. It is essential to refrain from using any medicines that have not been prescribed to you by a doctor and to get help if you are battling substance misuse.

The Dangers of Combining Ketamine and Cocaine

This polydrug has detrimental impacts on both the body and the mind. Combining the effects of each drug can make them stronger and last longer, which raises the risk of addiction, overdose, and other health issues.

Calvin Klein side effects include:

  • Cardiovascular problems: While ketamine can alter cardiac rhythm, cocaine raises blood pressure and heart rate. Combining these medications increases the risk of cardiovascular problems such as heart attacks, strokes, and cardiac arrest.
  • Respiratory depression: A person’s breathing slows down when cocaine and ketamine are combined, which can cause respiratory depression or even respiratory failure.
  • Cognitive impairment: Memory, attention, and decision-making are all aspects of cognitive function that the CK drug can affect. These side effects, as well as confusion, disorientation, and impaired judgment, might be made worse by combining these substances.
  • Psychiatric symptoms: Both drugs have the potential to produce psychological symptoms like anxiety, paranoia, and hallucinations. Combining these drugs can increase the likelihood of developing these symptoms and result in more serious psychological side effects.
  • Overdose: This is a life-threatening symptom that can leave long-lasting physical consequences, requiring immediate medical attention.

If you fear that someone is suffering from an overdose or other adverse reaction, call 911 or get them to the nearest emergency room. It could very well save their life.
